We were in Thailland when the king's 60th birthday was celebrated by floating candles in lotus down the river in Bangkok, lovely to watch the "lotus procession" under the stars. Peaceful, too, in a big city. An auspicious new cycle began for the kingdom, his majesty was seen as a Sage, according to several people we met, having reached the age of 60.
